Weather Service May Extend Bay Area Heat Advisory Past 9 P.M.
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- A heat advisory is in effect until 9 p.m. Sunday night throughout most of the Bay Area and Monterey Bay Area, according to the National Weather Service.
Weather service officials issued the alert at about 3:20 p.m.
The North Bay Coast is exempt from the advisory, forecasters said.
Forecasters said they will probably let the heat advisory expire at 9 p.m. but they may extend it.
Forecasters said some hints of minor cooling are appearing, with west winds blowing near the Golden Gate and San Francisco International Airport.
West winds cooled by 60-degree ocean waters will cool the Bay Area, NWS forecaster Steve Anderson said. The strength of the winds determines how much of the inland Bay Area gets cooled, he said.
