Outside Lands Forecast: Time To Layer Up As Usual?
KPIX 5 Morning Weather Anchor Roberta Gonzales answers the questions you never get to ask on-air.
Q: "Roberta, I'm headed to all three days of Outside Lands, do I need to layer up like usual or will we actually get some sun in Golden Gate Park?"
A: I wish I had a different answer for you, but I'm afraid the truth is "yes. You're going to want your layers."
We are returning to our typical summertime weather pattern with early morning overcast and slow burn off. Morning temperatures will begin in the upper 50s and low 60s and climb to near 70 in the afternoon. You probably aren't going to see a big difference from one day to the next.
Even when the sun does break through, concert goers need to keep in mind, Golden Gate Park is an urban park of over 1,000 acres. From the Windmills to the Polo Fields, from the Chain of Lakes, to the Conservatory of Flowers, Bison Paddock and the Beach Chalet the weather changes. Like the city itself, the park has its own microclimates.
While the afternoon high could be near 70, other parts of the park can be breezy and 65 degrees. My best advice is to either bring that extra shirt or prepare to dance a lot if you're in need of a warm up.
