Walnut Creek Police Activity Closes Streets Near Motel 6
WALNUT CREEK (CBS SF) -- A 30-year-old Pittsburg man faces charges of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and robbery, suspected of shooting another person Saturday morning in a motel room in the 2300 block on North Main Street, police said Sunday.
Dashon Banks was arrested about 5 1/2 hours after he allegedly shot another person in the leg during an apparent robbery, police said. The
victim was taken to nearby John Muir Medical Center for treatment of what police describe as non-life-threatening wounds.
The shooting was reported at 9:37 a.m. Saturday. Walnut Creek police officers and detectives learned that Banks was inside a room at that
motel, obtained an arrest warrant and with the help the Central County SWAT Team - comprising members from Walnut Creek, San Ramon, Martinez, BART and Pleasant Hill police departments - took Banks into custody at the motel without further incident. Banks was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.
Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Walnut Creek police Detective Gerstner at (925) 256-3578.
