Police Looking For Vandals Puncturing Car Gas Tanks In Napa

NAPA (CBS SF) -- Napa police are reporting a rash of punctured vehicle gas tanks in the past week.

Vandals have been puncturing or drilling holes in the gas tanks in busy parking lots and quiet residential areas in Napa all hours of the day and night since July 24, police said.

The vandalism is causing significant damage and repair costs to vehicle owners, and the Napa Fire Department has responded to reports of large amounts of gas on the roadways, police said.

The vandals seem to be targeting SUVs and pickup trucks because of their raised height.

Anyone with information about the vandalism is asked to call Sgt. Amy Hunter at (707) 257-9561.
