Vallejo Man Burned In Apparent Hash Lab Explosion

VALLEJO (CBS SF) – A man suffered second-degree burns to his hands and face in a hash lab explosion at a Vallejo mobile home park Wednesday night, according to police.

Police were called to an incident in the 100 block of Catalpa Street at 8:10 p.m., according to Lt. Robinson with the Vallejo Police Department.

Fire crews also responded to reports of a residential structure fire at that location, inside the Olympia of Vallejo mobile home park, at 8:19 p.m.

Robinson said a 34-year-old man was injured during an explosion that occurred while he was trying to produce "honey oil" in an aluminum shed that was not properly ventilated.

"The explosion virtually destroyed the shed," Robinson said.

Firefighters said that three neighboring homes were also damaged.

The 34-year-old man was transported to a hospital, but had not been arrested as of 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to Robinson.

Further details were not immediately available.
