Vacant Vallejo Building Catches Fire For 2nd Time In 3 Days

VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- Vallejo fire officials are investigating a two-alarm fire Thursday evening at a former school district building that was also involved in a three-alarm fire just two nights ago.

The building at 211 Valle Vista Ave. was boarded up following Tuesday night's three-alarm fire, making entry into the structure difficult, fire officials said Thursday evening.

Tuesday's fire was reported just before 10 p.m. and was brought under control around 11 p.m., according to fire officials.

The boarded up building was once used by the school district as a main office but recently has been occupied by homeless people, firefighters said.

One firefighter suffered a minor cut to the hand from glass in the building on Tuesday.

Three homeless people at the scene that night told responders there was a person still in the building when the fire broke out, but no one was located inside the building, firefighters said.

While firefighters were responding to tonight's fire, two other possible structure fires were reported within Vallejo, forcing the department to call in mutual aid from neighboring cities.

However, those fires were found to be false alarms, officials said.
