Suspect In Possible Domestic Violence Barricades Himself In Union City Home

UNION CITY (CBS SF) -- A man who barricaded himself inside a Union City house Thursday morning, prompting a standoff with police and a shelter-in-place order for nearby residents, has been identified as Randell Turner, 40, of Union City, police said.

The incident began when officers responded to a possible domestic violence situation at about 7:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Baylor Street, according to police.

When officers arrived on scene and tried to speak with residents of the home, everyone left except Turner, who refused to come outside for hours, police said.

Officers had asked nearby residents to shelter in place in the 1800 block of Baylor Street and the 1800 block of Tulane Street, near the intersection of Alvarado-Niles Road and H Street.

By 11:29 a.m., Turner eventually surrendered to police and officers detained him. He was arrested on suspicion of multiple felony offenses, according to police.

Following his arrest, roadways were reopened and the shelter-in-place order was lifted.
