UCLA Researchers Develop Cancer Test That Takes 10 Minutes, Costs Less Than $20

LOS ANGELES (KCBS) -- UCLA researchers have come up with a way to test for cancer that takes about ten minutes, and costs less than twenty dollars.

It's called a liquid biopsy, and oncology professor Dr. David Wong says it can detect tumor DNA in just a drop of a patient's saliva.

They're hoping to start clinical trials of the testing procedure by the end of the year.

The researchers say this could help save lives by detecting cancers early enough that they can be cured.
