UC Davis Medical Center Patient Tests Negative For Ebola Virus

SACRAMENTO (CBS) – A patient at the UC Davis Medical Center suspected of having the Ebola virus has tested negative, officials said.

CBS Sacramento reported that state and local public health officials confirmed the patient who was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center on Thursday morning with symptoms of the disease and who traveled to the region of Ebola-affected Africa does not have the virus. The test results came back on Thursday night, according to a statement from the California Department of Public Health.

There have been no confirmed cases of Ebola in California and there is no threat to the general public, say officials.
