Two Teens Injured In Head-On Crash East Of Healdsburg
HEALDSBURG (CBS SF) -- A 17-year-old driver and his 15-year-old passenger were seriously injured and needed to be extricated from their 1992 Saturn after they crashed head-on into a truck while speeding east of Healdsburg Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The driver, a Geyserville resident, was speeding west on Alexander
Valley Road when he came up behind a stopped Lincoln sedan waiting to make a left turn onto West Soda Rock Lane at about 7:45 a.m., CHP officials said.
The Saturn driver hit his brakes to avoid hitting the Lincoln but lost traction with the road and slid into the eastbound lane, directly in the path of a 2007 GMC Sierra truck driven by a 50-year-old Santa Rosa resident.
The Saturn and the GMC collided head-on and the GMC swerved and also hit the Lincoln. The Saturn spun off the road into a ditch, CHP officials said.
The two teens in the Saturn were taken to a hospital with serious injuries to their legs and head. The other drivers did not require hospitalization.
