TV Shows Set In The Bay Area
SAN FRANCISCO (ALICE@97.3) - The Bay Area is a scenic trifecta—a coterie of lush, rolling hills, its alluring fog, and a wily urban temperament. It's no wonder television shows have gradually become more drawn to the area.
Alice@97.3 put together a list of six television shows currently airing that are set in our corner of the United States, from Berkeley to the Valley.
1. Parenthood
Revolving around a large family living in Berkeley and its surrounding areas, "Parenthood" is more realistic than certain reality shows based here (you know which one I'm talking about). And, it features a crossover with another show…
2. About a Boy
The newest cable Bay Area show to the block, "About a Boy" stars David Walton, who has already made an in-character cameo on "Parenthood" playing poker with star Dax Shepard. Shepard himself will return the favor soon with a stint alongside Walton and co-star Minnie Driver in this sitcom, which follows a young boy with a single mother, who makes an unlikely connection with a neighborhood bachelor.
3. Looking
"Looking" is probably the most-hyped show here on the list—and with good reason. The 30-minute dramedy follows (ex-"Glee" star) Jonathan Groff in his quest for love.
4. Real World: Ex-plosion
You know about this one. MTV's newest installment of The Real World show is set in San Francisco in the middle of the city, and primarily follows this season's group of beautiful drunk messes up and down Polk street.
5. Betas
Betas, an Amazon direct to streaming show, is set in Silicon Valley and revolves around a group of brilliant 20-somethings. It may not be on much longer, so watch it while you can!
6. Silicon Valley
Though "Silicon Valley" has yet to actually premiere, the show has shown some promise. It pokes fun at the stereotypes so often attributed to the Valley—and in the age of tech revolt within San Francisco, it seems pretty well-timed.
