Tiger Woods Withdrawing From Safeway Open In Napa

NAPA (CBS SF) – Tiger Woods is delaying his return to golf.

Three days after entering the Safeway Open in Napa, Woods is withdrawing from the tournament. Woods has also withdrawn from the Turkish Airlines open in November.

"After a lot of soul searching and honest reflection, I know that I am not yet ready to play on the PGA TOUR or compete in Turkey," Woods said in a statement on his website. "My health is good, and I feel strong, but my game is vulnerable and not where it needs to be."

Woods has not played in a PGA Tour event since August of 2015 at the Wyndham Championship. His last win was the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational.

Since his last event, the winner of 14 major championships and 79 PGA Tour events has undergone two back surgeries.

Woods said he practiced the last several days in California but said that he "wasn't ready to compete against the best golfers in the world." He plans to compete at the Hero World Challenge later this year.
