Tiger Woods Pens Encouraging Letter To Young Boy Being Bullied

(CBS SF) -- Tiger Woods might be struggling in his golf game, but what he recently did for a 12-year old boy was, in my opinion, the equivalent of winning a major golf tournament.

The story, originally published by Golf Digest, tells about a young boy named Dillon who was bullied by classmates because he had a stuttering problem. Dillon said the cruelty of other children had driven him to attempt suicide.

Here is the letter that Tiger send to Dillon.

Tiger's letter and the unfortunate experience suffered by Dillon hit home because I have a brother who has a severe stuttering problem and is dyslexic. He endured the same cruel taunts that Dillon faced on a daily basis.

I'm not sure what inspires young people to ridicule others for they look, the way they dress, the way the walk or the way they talk. I wish they understood the long term effect it has on the people they bully.

Tiger Woods' letter won't stop the bullies from what they do best. But it will change Dillon's life in a way no bully ever could.

I guess athletes are role models after all.

See you on TV.
