Thunder Echoes Through Bay Area, Twitter Helps Track Storms
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A series of lunch-hour thunderstorms Monday had San Francisco taking to Twitter to tweet about thunder, rain, and lightning, as a band of heavy storms moved through, ushering in the first wave of what will be a wet week.
The first lightning, and a few seconds later, thunder hit around 12:45 p.m. in the north part of the Peninsula. More lightning and thunder echoed through the Bay in the following hours, rattling windows and nerves.
KPIX 5 High-Def Doppler indicated several large storm cells moving through, including one near Pacifica, one over Angel Island that may have generated the lightning heard across the city, and another powerful cell near Monterey.

Tweets ranged from the inane to the angry, as many fans wished the rain would go away, so the Oakland A's could play.
The latest map from TrendMap.com plots out the trend in Tweeting about the weather. The software uses the Twitter API and plots the words in darker and larger labels for stronger trends.
