The Simpsons - 'Homer and Apu'

Apu offers the Simpsons his services as valet after he is fired from the Kwik-E-Mart for selling rancid meat.

While working at the Kwik-E-Mart, Apu finds expired boiled ham that is several years old. Instead of throwing it out, Apu marks down the price. Homer buys the cheap meat, and after consuming it must be rushed to the hospital. Lisa urges Homer to expose Apu. Homer takes the story to "Bite Back With Kent Brockman." A hidden surveillance camera photographs Apu reselling a hot dog that has rolled on his dirty floor. After the story is broadcast, Apu is fired by the Kwik-E-Mart company. At first suicidal, Apu changes his mind about killing himself and decides to confront Homer.

Apu admits to Homer that he served him badly and wishes to make amends by offering his services as valet. He cooks dinner for the family and rakes leaves. Meanwhile, actor James Woods applies for Apu's job at the convenience store. Refusing to shop at Kwik-E-Mart, Apu accompanies Marge to the Shelbyville Monstromart, where he accurately predicts which of the long lines will move fastest. Though Apu tells the Simpsons he no longer needs his old store, inside he secretly wishes to return.

Homer agrees to accompany Apu to India—where the corporate headquarters of Kwik-E-Mart are located—to help him win back his job. But when the benevolent head of the corporation grants the duo three questions, Homer accidentally ruins Apu's chance to be rehired. Apu decides to confront his demons and return to the store. There, he saves James Woods' life during a robbery attempt. Eternally grateful, Woods offers Apu his job back.
