Update: Walnut Creek BART station reopens after bomb squad removes suspicious package
WALNUT CREEK -- BART's Walnut Creek station reopened late Monday morning after being shut down at the height of the AM commute following the discovery of a suspicious package in the parking structure.
Walnut Creek station has reopened. Trains are now stopping at Walnut Creek station. The parking structure is accessible. The Pringle Street entrance remains closed.

Shortly after 10 a.m., BART said the station had reopened and the parking garage was now accessible, but that the Pringle Street entrance was still shut down.
The station had been shut down for about two hours while offices and bomb squad technicians removed the device.
"Members of the Walnut Creek bomb squad also responded to assist BART police and were able to safely inspect and removed the suspicious device," said BART spokesperson Anna Duckworth in a recorded message.
It was not immediately disclosed what the device was.

BART officials tweeted out a warning to commuters at around 8:10 a.m. of issues at the station that daily services thousands of riders.
"There is a station closure at Walnut Creek," the tweet read. "Trains are not stopping at Walnut Creek station due to police activity."
A service alert was then sent out advising riders to seek alternate routes.
