Suspended State Sen. Leland Yee Faces New Racketeering Charges In San Francisco Chinatown Probe
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) _ New charges were filed Friday in federal court against suspended California state Senator Leland Yee, Chinatown association leader Raymond "Shrimp Boy" Chow and 27 additional defendants.
A revised grand jury indictment contains a total of 228 charges against the various defendants including new racketeering charges against Yee and Chow.
Yee and former San Francisco School Board President Keith Jackson are accused of racketeering by soliciting bribes and campaign contributions in exchange for political favors.
Chow, Jackson and 15 additional defendants are charged with racketeering in connection with running drugs, selling guns, money laundering and buying stolen property.
The racketeering counts carry a maximum penalty of twenty years in prison.
