Robbery Victim's Screams Lead To Suspects' Arrest Near Oakland's Lake Merritt

OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Police in Oakland swiftly arrested two robbery suspects near Lake Merritt Tuesday morning, a police spokeswoman said.

Police responded at 9:24 a.m. to reports of a woman screaming in the 2100 block of Harrison Street, near the Kaiser Center, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.

The woman had just been the victim of a strong-arm robbery, Watson said. Two suspects, who did not appear to be armed, demanded her property and fled.

Witnesses called police and provided a description of the two suspects and one witness followed them to the lake. Police found them there and detained them both.

The suspects are both males in their late teens, according to Watson. Several patrol cars remain parked at the lake Tuesday morning as police continue their investigation.
