Suspects arrested in sideshow near Bay Bridge after car chase
Two suspects were arrested in connection with a sideshow in Oakland early Friday morning after a car chase that ended in a crash.
On September 13th, at 12:39 a.m., CHP officers observed a white Infiniti engaging in sideshow activity near the Bay Bridge.
They attempted to stop the vehicle near the Treasure Island on-ramp, but the driver fled, initiating a pursuit into Oakland. The chase ended when the Infiniti crashed into a tree at Mandela Parkway.
The driver and passenger were apprehended after a short foot chase and were transported to a local hospital for medical clearance. They were then booked into Santa Rita Jail on multiple charges, including reckless driving and felony evading.
The arrests come as sideshow activity is being closely watched across the Bay Area, with a swath of vehicles being impounded in the Richmond last weekend and a new, more stringent penalties being recently announced by San Francisco Mayor London Breed.
