Suspected Drunk Driver Arrested After Crash With Pleasant Hill Police Car

PLEASANT HILL (CBS SF) -- A motorist suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested after being involved in a collision with a Pleasant Hill police officer on Wednesday evening, according to police.

A patrol officer and the motorist collided at 7:32 p.m. Wednesday in the intersection of Chilpancingo Parkway and Camelback Road, according to Pleasant Hill police.

The vehicles were both traveling at a low rate of speed, Lt. Scott Vermillion said.

Vermillion said neither the officer nor the motorist was injured, but a person in custody inside the patrol vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Because a Pleasant Hill police officer was involved in the crash, the California Highway Patrol is doing an independent investigation to determine fault, Vermillion said.

CHP officials were not immediately available to comment on that investigation.
