Vehicle Pursuit Results In Crash On San Mateo-Hayward Bridge

HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- A vehicle pursuit out of Hayward resulted in a major collision that blocked all westbound lanes of the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge Thursday night.
The collision on westbound state Highway 92 occurred just before the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge toll plaza around 10 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Hayward police were involved in a vehicle pursuit when the suspect vehicle crashed into multiple vehicles near the toll plaza. The suspect vehicle reportedly flipped and landed in a nearby marsh.
Traffic was being diverted on to Clawiter Road and motorists were being advised to use alternate routes since there was no estimated time of reopening the roadway.
