San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee Unveils Logo, Gets Busy Planning Big Show
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - The San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl Host Committee tasked with putting on the biggest single-day sporting event on Earth is getting down to business after officially kicking off the planning efforts for Super Bowl 50 Thursday.
In truth, planners for the 50th anniversary of the NFL's biggest event have been working ever since the new home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi's Stadium was awarded the February 2016 game. However, key logistics of putting on the game and all of the associated events will be hammered out by the Host Committee in the coming months.
The game itself will be played on February 7th, 2016, and broadcast locally on KPIX 5.

In the meantime, the committee will be coordinating with Bay Area pubic officials on the Super Bowl Village, various public exhibits as well as traffic, security and other needs for the weekend.
The Host Committee's logo for the event, which differs from the NFL's logo unveiled Wednesday, is a gold seal with a silhouette of a football and the Golden Gate Bridge, appropriate for the golden anniversary Super Bowl.
On Thursday the group also announced that 25 percent of every dollar raided by the group will be donated back to "high-performing nonprofits" in the Bay Area.
