Subtropical Moisture Takes Aim At Bay Area, Bringing Chance For Thunderstorms
(CBS SF) -- A big change in the Tuesday forecast is serving up muggier, but cooler conditions with a chance of thunderstorms.
A plume of subtropical moisture trailing to the Hawaiian Islands is now taking a direct aim on the Bay Area.
Mid-level alto cumulus clouds over the Pacific Ocean signal the development of some thunderstorm activity that could contain some light rain.
There is a threat for some dry lightning, which would be bad news for firefighters struggling to contain the Rocky Fire in Lower Lake.
According to the futurecast, light precipitation is located off the coast. Some of the increasing cloud cover from the south will keep conditions partly to mostly cloudy throughout the day.
Due to an upper level trough that passed through Monday, the Bay Area can expect a cooler air mass on Tuesday before warmer and drier conditions return on Wednesday.
