MEMPHIS, TN (CBS SF) - On Thursday, Smash Mouth cancelled their show at the New Daisy Theater in Memphis when lead singer Steve Harwell was rushed to the hospital. He was suffering the effects of cardiomyopathy, a form of heart disease he was diagnosed with 2 years ago.

The 50-year-old singer tells TMZ he began having trouble breathing during soundcheck at the venue. Despite not feeling well for the past couple of days, Harwell said he was able to perform at their other shows. Management then decided to cancel that night's performance and take Harwell to the hospital for immediate medical attention.

The band's sold out Friday night show at The Wildey Theatre in Illinois was also postponed. According to Variety, it's unclear if the band will be able to "fulfill its performance obligations" on Saturday at the River Days Festival in Portsmouth, Ohio or on Sunday at the Elgin Festival in Elgin Park, Illinos.

Well wishes go out to the "All-Star" singer.
