2 Small Quakes Rattle East Bay

BERKELEY (CBS SF) -- A small earthquake rattled the East Bay Saturday morning and was followed by another similar-magnitude temblor after noon.

Two small quakes shook the East Bay on Saturday

The first quake, at 8:44 a.m., was about 7 miles deep and centered near Dwight Way and Panoramic Way in the Berkeley hills, close to UC Berkeley's Clark Kerr Campus.

Residents reported the quake felt like a short jolt.

The second small quake struck along the Hayward Fault near Mills College in Oakland, according to the USGS.

The magnitude-2.7 quake struck in East Oakland at 12:35 p.m., about 3 miles down.

There were no reports of damage or injuries.
