Shots Fired Into AC Transit Bus In Richmond

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- No one was injured this evening after multiple shots were fired into an AC Transit bus, a Contra Costa Sheriff's deputy said.

Sgt. Brian Sliger said deputies responded to Fourth Street and Market Avenue in North Richmond, an undesignated area of Contra Costa County, around 6 p.m.

He said he wasn't sure how many people were on the bus at the time when the perpetrator or perpetrators fired multiple shots into the bus.

Sliger said the shots appeared almost random.

"At this point we're still trying to generate information as far as suspects," Sliger said. "It was kind of random, almost. But we'll see. I'm sure there is some evidence as to why they shot at this bus."

Sliger said it was likely there was more than one shooter involved.

Occupants of the bus self-evacuated before deputies arrived on scene and only three or four people remained by the time authorities arrived, Sliger said.

No suspect information was available, he said.
