Barricaded gunman shot by officers after daylong standoff in Gilroy

Suspect shot, deputy wounded after 9-hour Gilroy standoff

GILROY -- Authorities said early Sunday evening that a nine-hour standoff with a gunman barricaded in a Gilroy home has concluded.

Police responded to a residence in the 3000 block of Dryden Avenue at Bishop Court around 10 o'clock Sunday morning. At the scene, they heard gunshots coming from inside a home.

Police worked for hours to negotiate with the suspect and officers shot him after he fired at police.

The suspect is now in the hospital with no word on his condition.
