Passenger Trapped In Bathroom Diverts SFO-Bound Flight To Denver
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A San Francisco-bound flight was diverted due to a passenger getting stuck in the plane's bathroom Wednesday evening.
United Airlines Flight 1554 was heading to San Francisco International Airport from Washington, D.C. but was diverted to Denver International Airport, according to CBS Denver.
DIA officials said the Denver Fire Department was called around 7 p.m. to help the woman stuck in the bathroom. No one was injured. Passengers on the flight told KPIX 5 via social media that the woman was stuck in the bathroom for about an hour.
A passenger also said five firefighters and a mechanic got onboard to quickly free the woman, who was embarrassed, but otherwise unharmed.
United Airlines released a statement Wednesday evening saying the door became inoperative when the woman was inside the bathroom.
"We are reaching out to all customers onboard and the customer in the lavatory to apologize," the company said.
According to Flight Aware, the flight is now departing from Denver at 9:30 p.m. MDT and is scheduled to arrive at SFO around 11 p.m.
