Driver arrested for suspected DUI after crashing pickup into Santa Rosa home
SANTA ROSA – A man who was allegedly driving drunk in Santa Rosa slammed his pickup truck into a house Sunday, police said.
Both police and medical personnel were called to the area of Dutton Avenue and W. 8th St. around 3:15 p.m. on a report of a collision between a vehicle and a house.
According to police, the pickup truck was traveling south on Dutton Avenue when the driver crossed over all northbound lanes and struck a house. The front of the truck also struck a gas meter, which caused a leak.
Occupants of the house were evacuated and PG&E assessed and fixed the gas leak, according to police.
Juan Calderon Hernandez, 58, of Santa Rosa, was arrested in connection with the collision on suspicion of having a blood alcohol content of .18, more than twice the legal limit. He was booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
