Santa Rosa Police Unveil Most Wanted Offenders Program
SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- Santa Rosa police Wednesday unveiled a new Most Wanted Offenders program.
The most wanted offenders are selected because they have active warrants for their arrest or they are being sought for ongoing criminal investigations by Santa Rosa police, Sgt. John Cregan said.
"The goal of Santa Rosa's Most Wanted program is to enhance the partnership with residents and improve public safety within out community by generating on-going interest and tips from the public, resulting in safe capture of wanted persons in our city," Cregan said.
The program was developed by Gang Crimes Team Detective Robert Reynolds who witnessed the success of similar programs at other police agencies, Cregan said.
Information about and photos of the most wanted will appear on the police department's website, Facebook, Twitter and Nixle and local media, Cregan said. Police will publicize surveillance footage at incidents including bank robberies, assaults and burglaries among other offenses.
The Sonoma County Alliance offers rewards for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
Three of the Santa Rosa Police Department's 10 current suspects are wanted for murder.
