Santa Rosa Police K-9 Takes Down Domestic Violence Suspect

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) – Police, with the help of a police K-9, arrested a Santa Rosa man Thursday in connection with a domestic violence incident.

Jesus Banda-Marin, 24, was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic assault, violation of probation and obstruction.

Officers with the Santa Rosa Police Department responded Thursday at 7:45 p.m. to a report of a family disturbance at the Pioneer Apartments at 2028 Piner Road.

Responding officers met with a woman, who said her boyfriend had assaulted her, police said.

The suspect, identified as Banda-Marin, had fled the scene before police arrived but returned as officers were conducting their investigation, police said.

Police said he then tried to flee the area again and was located hiding in the area of Red Oak Court and Peterson Lane.

Officers used a police K-9 to help take Banda-Marin into custody after he was located and failed to comply with commands, police said.

Banda-Marin was bit in his left calf by the dog as he was taken into custody and was transported to the hospital for treatment for the dog bite.

He was then transported to the Sonoma County Jail.
