Santa Clara Police Searching For 3 Suspects In Separate Crimes Commited Minutes Apart
SANTA CLARA (CBS SF) -- Police in Santa Clara were investigating two robberies committed about 15 minutes apart early Saturday morning and possibly by the same three suspects near Santa Clara University.
At about 1 a.m. that day officers responded to reports of a robbery at 443 El Camino Real and learned three suspects had approached a victim in the parking lot, Santa Clara police Lt. Kurt Clarke said.
The university's Stephen Schott Baseball Stadium is listed near that address.
Two of the suspects were armed with handguns and demanded the victim's property, according to Clarke.
The victim gave the suspects his cell phone and wallet before the suspects fled the scene.
About 15 minutes later, officers learned of three other victims that had been robbed in the area of Park Avenue and Mission Street, Clarke said.
The victims had been approached by three armed gunmen, who demanded the victims hand over their property, according to Clarke.
One of the victims was forced to the ground and struck on the face with a handgun. The suspects took a cell phone and wallet from one of the three victims and fled the area.
Both robberies appear to be committed by the same suspects, Clarke said.
All three are described as black and about 25 years old. The first was about 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build and short black hair, and was possibly wearing a dark green jacket, dark jean pants and had a black handgun.
The other two suspects were wearing black hooded sweatshirts and black baggy jeans.
Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to contact Sgt. Hoesing at (408) 615-4814.
