San Rafael Man Drowns At Lake Berryessa

LAKE BERRYESSA (CBS SF) -- A San Rafael man drowned at Lake Berryessa on Tuesday afternoon, a Napa County sheriff's captain said Wednesday.

Abiail Rodas, 27, was in the Oak Shores area on the west shore of Lake Berryessa with his family around 4 p.m. Tuesday, sheriff's Capt. Doug Pike said.

Rodas began struggling after he went into the water, then disappeared underwater. Bystanders pulled him from 15 feet of water and tried performing CPR, but he was pronounced dead when deputies arrived around 4:30 p.m., Pike said.

Investigators do not know if Rodas could swim, Pike said.
