San Jose Man Arrested In Alleged Road Rage Stabbing In Front Of Victim's Child
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- A 21-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stabbing a man in front of his own home as a child watched Thursday evening in South San Jose, a police spokesman said Friday.
Travis David Painter, of San Jose, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and booked into Santa Clara County Jail, police Sgt. Enrique Garcia said.
Officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 6200 block of Mojave Drive around 7:10 p.m., Garcia said.
Arriving officers found a man stabbed multiple times, according to Garcia.
A preliminary investigation showed that prior to the stabbing, the victim and Painter ended up in a dispute as they were driving in their own cars, Garcia said.
The victim followed Painter to his home on Mojave Drive, where they left their cars and fought with one another, the spokesman said.
During the altercation, Painter allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times, according to Garcia.
The victim went back inside his car where his 5-year-old son was by himself and the suspect allegedly continued to stab him while the child watched, Garcia said.
Painter's father stepped out of the home and told his son to stop the stabbing, according to Garcia.
The 21-year-old entered his home while the bleeding victim was left on the street, Garcia said.
Painter's mother called police and the victim was transported to a hospital for injuries not considered life-threatening, according to Garcia.
