San Jose Firefighters Quell Blaze At Suspected Marijuana Grow House

SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Firefighters quickly extinguished a one-alarm fire at a suspected marijuana grow house in San Jose on Saturday evening, a fire captain said.

Fire crews responded to a report of a fire in the 200 block of Prairiewood Court at 7:36 p.m., San Jose fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort said.

The blaze was at the corner of a garage and was extinguished about 10 minutes later, he said.

The home sustained minor damage from the fire, which burned a wall of the garage, Van Elgort said.

No injuries were reported.

The two-story home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, according to Van Elgort.

A PG&E crew was called to the scene to secure utilities at the home, he said.

The cause of the fire, which appears to be electrical in nature, is under investigation, Van Elgort said.
