Fire At San Jose Recycling Center Burns 20 Tons Of Paper Product
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) -- Fire crews in San Jose knocked down a large fire at a recycling center on East Alma Avenue Monday afternoon that burned 20 tons of paper product, according to authorities.
The San Jose Fire Department tweeted about the fire at Caraustar Recycling San Jose on the 300 block of East Alma Avenue at about 2:20 p.m. San Jose police shut down East Alma between 7th to 10th streets to accommodate fire units responding.

Video shot at the scene appeared to show fire crews getting an upper hand on the smoky fire.
Fire Capt. Brian Palodichuk said a couple of pallets of product started to burn leading to an estimated 20 tons that had to be extinguished and moved around.
Thousands and thousands of gallons of water were needed to put out the fire, tying up fire department resources for a while Monday afternoon, Palodichuk said.
No one was injured and the cause is undetermined. Nothing else was damaged. The pallets were outside in a storage yard.
Palodichuk said it's not uncommon for fires like this to start at recycling centers. Fire officials do not believe the fire was arson.
