San Francisco Set For Month-Long World Cup Outdoor Viewing Party At Civic Center

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- World Cup soccer fans in San Francisco will have another opportunity to view games outdoors at a public screening in Civic Center Plaza beginning Saturday morning.

The city's Recreation and Parks Department has arranged the big-screen, outdoor viewings for the month-long free event, which will include other family-friendly activities such as mini soccer games, youth skills, face painting and photo booths.

The first game on the schedule is Saturday, Greece vs. Colombia at 9:00 a.m. PT. Team USA will play on Monday vs. Ghana at 3:00 p.m.

Viewing events are scheduled several times throughout the month of June. The semifinals on July 9 and the finals on July 13 will also be shown.

San Francisco-based Twitter and Visa, Inc. are among the companies underwriting the event.

San Francisco has previously hosted viewing parties at Civic Center for World Cup and San Francisco Giants World Series games and Olympics events.
