SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) – Three people suffered smoke inhalation and two apartment buildings were damaged Thursday morning during a two-alarm fire in San Francisco's Marina District, according to fire officials.

The fire was reported at 6:53 a.m. at a three-story building on Lombard Street near Divisadero Street, according to fire officials.

Firefighters upgraded the blaze to a two-alarm fire at 7 a.m. as the fire on the second and third floors spread to an adjacent building, according to San Francisco fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control at 7:23 a.m., fire officials said.

Talmadge said four adults were displaced by the blaze and that three patients were transported to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
