San Francisco Giants Offer Fans An Opportunity To Own Candlestick Seats
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – The San Francisco Giants are giving the general public a chance to buy a piece of Candlestick Park history before the stadium is demolished.
Mario Alioto, Giants senior vice president of business operations, said the San Francisco 49ers started taking orders for Candlestick seats during football season. "Now that it's baseball season, the Giants are coming out with a similar offer, so everyone has an opportunity to purchase seats," he said.
Both teams are charging the same price, $749 for a pair of red and orange seats. But Alioto said the Giants are also offering autographed pairs for up to $3,500.
"We have combinations of Willie Mays and Joe Montana, Willie Mays and Willie McCovey, Kruk and Kuip, our two broadcasters that fans love," said Alioto. "We also have a Joe Montana-Dwight Clark option as well."
As soon as the Paul McCartney concert is done on August 14, crews will start removing the seats so they can be packaged and shipped out.
The Candlestick Memories program is in partnership with the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department and proceeds from the sales will benefit that agency's scholarship fund. Candlestick served as the home for the San Francisco Giants from 1960-1999, before the team moved to its current home, AT&T Park.
