49ers, Raiders 2015 Schedules Released, Road To Super Bowl 50 At Levi's Stadium
(CBS SF) – The National Football League released the 2015 season schedules for the Oakland Raiders and San Francisco 49ers on Tuesday, a season that will eventually lead to Super Bowl 50 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara.
The 49ers will open the season on Monday Night Football, the first Monday night game ever at Levi's Stadium. The last Monday night game the 49ers hosted was the last game at Candlestick Park in 2013.
San Francisco will play three other primetime games, including another Thursday night matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, which swept the 49ers in two games last season, including a Thanksgiving Day primetime game in Santa Clara.
KPIX 5 sports director Dennis O'Donnell said about the 49ers schedule, "Those wondering if Jim Tomsula can coach won't have to wait long to find out."
"After a very winnable Monday night premiere against Minnesota, the 49ers get Pittsburgh, the Cardinals and the Packers, followed by an east coast trip to New York against the Giants. The 49ers opponents had a .561 winning percentage in 2014, and that will rank as the third toughest schedule in the NFL behind only the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals," O'Donnell said. "To steal a line from Ringo Starr, "You know it don't come easy.'"
The Raiders will have no Monday night games and only one primetime matchup, a Thursday night game against the Chargers at home on December 24.
Oakland will begin the 2015 season with back-to-back games at O.co Coliseum against the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens, the first time the Raiders open the season at home since the 2012 season.
The 49ers are listed as 18-1 odds to end their season playing in Super Bowl 50 at Levi's Stadium. The Raiders are listed as 100-1 odds.
