San Francisco 49er Ray McDonald Will Likely Not Be Charged With Domestic Violence, Sources Reveal
SANTA CLARA (KCBS) — San Francisco 49ers defensive lineman Ray McDonald will likely not be charged with felony domestic abuse, according to a news report.
The San Jose Mercury News reported that, according to sources familiar with the case, the Santa Clara District Attorney's Office could make a public announcement as soon as Friday.
The district attorney is also expected to release a detailed report of the incident along with its reasons for not pursuing charges against McDonald, who was arrested on Aug. 31 on suspicion of domestic violence involving his pregnant fiancée.

McDonald, 29, has been playing for San Francisco since he was drafted as a third-round pick in 2007.
The case was also made more complicated due to the actions of off-duty San Jose police Sgt. Sean Pritchard, who attended the party at McDonald's house shortly before the incident took place. Pritchard left and then returned in his uniform and on duty before other officers, responding the 911 call, arrived.
The district attorney's office declined comment to KCBS regarding the report.
