San Bruno Man Gets 25 Years For Severely Beating Woman In Front Of Her 11-Year-Old Daughter
REDWOOD CITY (CBS SF) -- A San Bruno parolee was sentenced Thursday to serve 25 years in state prison for severely assaulting a woman he dated in front of her 11-year-old daughter last year.
On Jan. 9, a San Mateo County court jury found Anthony Davis, 43, guilty of domestic violence, criminal threats, witness intimidation and child endangerment, prosecutors said.
Davis is a parolee with nine felony convictions and two prior strike convictions, according to prosecutors.
On Sep. 11, 2014 Davis was with the victim, a 38-year-old woman he had dated for four years.
The two were inside a home, arguing about money. Davis became enraged and started punching the victim in the head and in the eye, according to prosecutors.
The assault happened as the victim's 11-year-old daughter watched. The girl screamed for Davis to stop, prosecutors said.
The victim threw a phone at her daughter and told her to call the police. Davis then grabbed a knife and told the girl that "if the police come, I will kill you," prosecutors said.
The girl ran into her bedroom and locked the door. Police arrived at the residence and arrested Davis, according to prosecutors.
Officers learned that Davis had been abusing the woman for days, prosecutors said.
Davis' attorney was not immediately available for comment.
