Sacramento State Creates Scholarship Fund For Student Who Thwarted France Train Attack
SACRAMENTO (CBS / AP) -- A California university has established a scholarship fund to assist one of the men who helped subdue a gunman on a high-speed train traveling to Paris.
The fund will benefit 23-year-old Anthony Sadler, a senior who is studying kinesiology. Sacramento State President Robert S. Nelsen said it is in response to numerous requests from people who want to recognize Sadler's courage.
The money will go directly to Sadler and help pay tuition, books and other expenses. The donations are not tax-deductible.
Sadler and his two friends generated international headlines when they stopped Ayoub El-Khazzani, a man with ties to radical Islam who was carrying a handgun and an assault weapon on a train last week.
The others are U.S. Air Force Airman Spencer Stone and Oregon National Guardsman Alek Skarlatos.
