Rookie Oakland Police Officer Arrested On Suspicion Of DUI
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- An Oakland police officer was arrested for driving under the influence early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP officials said Officer Isaac Goins was pulled over just after 2 a.m. Monday, traveling eastbound on Interstate Highway 580 near Park Boulevard.
Authorities said he was booked in the North County Jail.
According to the East Bay Times, Goins, a 25-year-old rookie cop, graduated at the top of his class in January 2017 and was valedictorian.
Justin Berton, a spokesman for Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf said, "Anytime a public servant is arrested it's a disappointment to the City of Oakland. Now, we have to let the investigation and due process run its course."
