Rohnert Park Safety Check Leads To Arrest For Suspected Firearm Possession
ROHNERT PARK (CBS SF) -- A man suspected of possessing a gun outside a Rohnert Park market on Friday evening was arrested, according to the city's Department of Public Safety.
Around 5:40 p.m. Friday, public safety dispatch responded to a report of a subject sitting in car parked in front of A&L Market at 1435 E. Cotati Ave., department officials said.
The person who made the report said the subject had a handgun on his lap and was talking to another person through an open window on the driver's side, according to public safety officials.
Two officers responded to the scene and detained the driver of the car, identified as 25-year-old Petaluma resident Ryan Kaczmarek, who allegedly had the firearm, public safety officials said.
Kaczmarek was arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm within a vehicle and openly carrying an unloaded handgun in a public place, according to public safety officials.
Jennifer Nieves, 31, of Rohnert Park, was identified as the person talking to Kaczmarek, public safety officials said.
Nieves was arrested on outstanding drug possession and drug paraphernalia warrants that totaled up to $50,000, according to public safety officials.
Kaczamrek and Nieves were booked into Sonoma County Jail.
