Road Rage Fight After San Francisco Fender Bender Leaves Driver Near Death

SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- A man was knocked unconscious during a fight over a minor traffic accident in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood Thursday evening and hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said Friday.

The 56-year-old victim was driving in the area of the 400 block of O'Farrell Street when he got into a fender bender with the driver of a brown late 90s Mercedes at about 5:40 p.m., police said.

The two drivers got into an argument over the accident and the Mercedes driver, a man between 35 and 40 years old, followed the other man and they got into a fight.

The Mercedes driver knocked the other driver out with a hard left, and the man fell, hitting the back of his head on the pavement, police said. He was found bleeding from the back of the head and taken to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Mercedes driver has not been located.
