Richmond Suspect Arrested After Loaded Gun Found In Toy Box

RICHMOND (CBS SF) -- A suspect arrested earlier this month after officers found a loaded gun hidden among children's toys at a Richmond residence was connected to an investigation into gang activity, a police lieutenant said Friday.

Lt. Felix Tan said a .40 caliber pistol was found on Jan. 9 at a residence in the first block of Sixth Street during a parole compliance check. The pistol was stashed in a bin that held toys.

The Glock pistol had an extended magazine inserted and was loaded with almost 30 bullets.

Officers at the scene arrested the suspect, who police said had prior felony firearms convictions.

Tan said the suspect's name could not be released, as this case is being considered part of a larger investigation.

No further information was provided.
