Authorities Investigate Officer-Involved Shooting Near CSU East Bay
HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- A reported officer-involved shooting prompted an investigation and shelter-in-place order near California State University, East Bay early Tuesday evening.
Hayward Police reported officers were investigating a critical incident involving another law enforcement agency in the area of City View apartments just northeast of the CSU East Bay campus in Hayward.
Two suspects were in custody and officers were searching for additional suspects, police said.
There was no active shooter at the CSU East Bay campus, police said.
Fremont police later confirmed that officers from their department were the other agency at the scene and that someone involved in the incident was shot by one or more of their officers.
There were no details provided as to the condition of the person who was shot or whether it was one of the suspects taken into custody.
The CSU East Bay Facebook page said that University Village next to the City View apartments was on lockdown, but the campus itself was not at risk.
The post also said it was safe to leave and enter the campus via Harder Road and that classes would continue as scheduled.
