Raiders Apply For 'Las Vegas Raiders' Trademark
OAKLAND (CBS SF) – As the Oakland Raiders consider a move to Nevada, the team has reportedly filed an application for the trademark "Las Vegas Raiders."
According to Forbes, the application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark office was made last week.
Forbes contributor Darren Heitner stressed that a trademark application is not a guarantee that the team would relocate. For example, the San Diego Chargers has applied for the trademark "LA Chargers" in the event the team moved to Los Angeles.

The Chargers have a measure on the November ballot that would raise funds for a new stadium in San Diego.
Raiders owner Mark Davis has raised the possibility of moving the team to Las Vegas for months, saying back in April that he would pledge a half billion dollars for a new stadium there.
On Thursday, the Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure committee is meeting to consider a proposal to increase a hotel and motel room tax to help fund the tourism-related projects in Las Vegas, money that could be used to develop a 65,000-seat domed stadium for the Raiders.
