Magnitude 3.1 quake rattles San Jose Sunday night

MENLO PARK -- The U.S. Geological Survey said a 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck at 8:35 p.m. Sunday, centered near Mount Hamilton, six miles east of Alum Rock.

The quake was about 4.7 miles deep.
